I’m exceptionally proud to welcome you to our community and invite you to explore all the ways that NCS lives its mission to believe in the power of young women.
At NCS, we believe in the unique power of each of our students, and we celebrate the myriad ways those singular powers can come together as an unstoppable force for good. Our goal is to help each NCS student discover and build the power only she possesses, so she can achieve her aspirations and change the world.
NCS is more than a place where skills are taught. Here, students develop competencies and expertise that serve them well at NCS and beyond. Students dive in deeply as their curiosity propels their expertise and vice versa, supported by teachers who work together across grades to design a curriculum that ensures students build the skills and competencies they need to succeed.
Because our programming and curriculum is designed around the central tenet of our belief in the power of our students, there is no limit to what they can achieve within it.
Our campus, a serene bit of green amidst the energy and opportunity of Washington, D.C., on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral, roots us in the Episcopal tradition that calls us to live by intentional values and is inclusive and welcoming to all.
We have the distinction of delivering an all girls, but not only girls, education thanks to our coodinate programs with St. Albans School for boys. NCS students experience the proven benefits of our all-girls education and also have meaningful coeducational opportunities.
In our classrooms, students are eager scholars deeply engaged in their learning and bringing to light their unique talents and ambitions. Our inspiring teachers, each a passionate scholar and a compassionate partner in their students’ education, foster a supportive and vibrant community. Students champion one another, building confidence to set their sights high and grow as leaders, supported by our unique Center for Ethical Leadership and Service leadership development model.
Students graduate from NCS prepared to lead and make a real difference in their communities and the world. Our more than 5,500 alumnae are proof. NCS graduates are physicians and physicists, artists and attorneys, parents and poets, teachers and technologists. What they share is their time at NCS, cited by many as their most transformational educational experience, where they discovered who they were, identified their passions, forged their sense of self, and determined how they wanted to show up in the world. They acquired skills and competencies to become confident individuals, empathetic leaders, change makers, problem solvers, and resilient learners. They also built long-lasting bonds of friendship with classmates and teachers.
We encourage you to visit our beautiful campus, to see our programs in action, and to learn why our graduates report that they feel prepared and ready not just for college, but for the world.
