Every NCS student is one-of-a-kind. 

But they all have something essential in common: a distinctive skillset that prepares them to lead, learn, grow, and make a difference wherever they choose to go.

Confident Individuals.

They know and accept themselves for who they are physically, cognitively, emotionally, socially and spiritually, and they use that knowledge to care for themselves and build meaningful, healthy relationships.

  • We have concentric circles of community—advisory groups, team sports, small classes, and grade-level planning and community.
  • Our Health and Wellness Program cares for each student, and our Athletics Program has “right size” participation and myriad options (competitive team sports to dance and Voyageur, to a smaller time commitment of Personal Fitness and Yoga classes). 
Empathetic Leaders.  

They listen, connect, and express themselves thoughtfully and adeptly across cultural boundaries as passionate advocates for themselves and for others as conscious citizens of their local, national, and global communities.

  • Our Humanities Program is developed around critical thinking and discussion. We also have a skills-based academic program.
  • We also have many opportunities for leadership in our Clubs and Organizations. 
Change Makers.

They seek opportunities to use their skills as leaders to create positive change, promote justice, and cultivate equity in their communities as advocates and allies.

  • Through our interdisciplinary Center for Ethical Leadership & Service programs, we develop deeper empathy, create our authentic identity, foster a global outlook, and learn to form close connections across differences.
  • In terms of our Episcopal Identity, we value learning about a wide range of religious and ethical traditions with a spirit of respect. Our goal is to nurture each student in her own discovery of a joyful, authentic, and purposeful life.
Problem Solvers.

They have a foundation to analyze and interpret material in preparation to engage uniquely, ethically, and meaningfully with a world that requires flexibility.

  • Our Coordinate Program with the St. Albans School for boys expands academic offerings while also allowing students to stretch cognitive flexibility in a new setting. 
Resilient Learners.
They understand the trajectory of success is rarely a straight line, so they adopt a growth mindset and coping skills that will help them navigate similar challenges they may face in the future.
