The Endowment is the bedrock of NCS’s financial health.
It comprises many different funds, established by donors over generations in order to provide a predictable income stream that enhances the NCS experience today, supports innovation and growth, and protects the school in times of financial uncertainty.
"NCS educators deserve the chance to explore new perspectives and to deepen their expertise. Through this [Endowment] gift, we hope they feel recognized and appreciated for everything they do...There are all sorts of ways you can give back to the people and communities that have supported you. Feel free to think creatively about what that something might be." -Anne ’74 and Ellen ’69 Ficklen, who recently established the Carolyn James Ficklen Interdisciplinary Fellowship Fund for faculty support
Over the past few years, the NCS endowment has experienced substantial growth. As of June 30, 2025, the endowment stood at $57.8 million and growing. Both new contributions and strong investment returns have driven this notable progress.
At the same time, NCS has historically lagged behind many of our peer schools in this regard. Bridging that gap now is one of our key philanthropic priorities. If you are ready to make an investment in NCS’s long-term financial health, please contact the Development Office by email or phone at 202-537-6667 to learn more.
